Dear Parents / Caregivers

I hope you had a good holiday with your child and are enjoying the warm Autumn days we are having.

This term as we are going to be looking at dance through the ages and our class will be focusing on the 1970’s, disco. There will be a performance of this later in the term so look out for more information on this. The children will be also be learning some golf skills with the Golf in Schools programme starting next week.

We will continue to work collaboratively with Room 11 in areas such as art, physical education and maths.

Our trip this term is to the Art Gallery and a letter has gone home about this. The time for this trip will be at 11.50am and the children will get back at about 2.30pm. I will be needing some parent help as indicated on the letter so if you can help that would be greatly appreciated.

Just a reminder the children have reading every day so if your child does not bring home a book for whatever reason then please ensure they spend some time reading a book of their choice at their level.  Spelling is another part of their homework, and they should be practising these spelling words all week because  the test for this is on a Friday. These words can be found at the back of their notebook. Please check out our class blog which has some spelling websites that may help your child with learning these words.  You can access the blog through the school website. A number of children are forgetting to bring their library bag to put their library books in so they don’t get damaged.  Please get the children  to bring their  library bags on Friday which is our library day.

Please feel free to come and see me before or after school if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Nicola Smith-Palmer

To the Parents/Caregivers

Welcome to Room 12. I trust you had a good holiday and enjoyed the time with your child. I went to Sydney with a few friends and enjoyed some great shopping. I am now rested and ready for a great year teaching Year Three / Four.

These first few weeks are being devoted to settling in, getting to know each other, establishing routines in the classroom and understanding the school rules and values.
All children will be bringing home a reading book next week so please look out for this.  The children need to keep their reading books in their reading folder. In the reading folder the children will have a small notebook. I would like you to please write the title of the book read and to have a signature of someone at home who heard the story being read.

Our class library day is on Friday so please ensure the children bring their library books inside their library bag on this day. They will be able to get a maximum of two books out from the library.

We have swimming at Aqua Gym coming up this term in Week Seven and Eight so keep an eye out for this upcoming event.

This year Miss Sullivan and I will be doing some collaborative teaching. We look forward to working with each other and getting to know all the children in our care. Most Tuesday afternoons during our class release time Mrs Walsh-Grieve will be teaching in Room 12 and Mrs Ford in Room 11.

I have set up a blog for our class and this will have information about what is happening in the class and will be where you can see some of the children’s work. You can access this through the school website.

I am available in the morning and most afternoons if you have any questions or enquiries.

Kind regards

Nicola Smith-Palmer
